212 area code

Most of you might know that 212 is the area code for New York City.

For nine months, I've had a number programmed into my cell phone so that when the phone call came, I wouldn't let it go into voice mail.

EVERY writer knows that a 212 area code on your phone might just be the call of a lifetime. Why? Because there are quite a few agents in NYC and chances are, if one is calling you, the news just might be good.

I've had my thriller, QUEEN, with an agent for several months now. We've gone through one major rewrite (when I had to cut 100 beloved pages). And today, she called and said that the manuscript was ready to shop and will be sent out tomorrow. In a couple of weeks, I should start hearing back from publishers.

This will be the true test. Can my manuscript attract the interest of a major national publisher? Can it compete? Will it be rejected hands-down? Will QUEEN see the light of day?

This is the chance that I've been waiting for--ever since I finished the first draft in 2006. It's been through several rewrites, several reviews, and all the while my characters grew stronger and stronger.

So, to the characters in QUEEN:

Omar

Mia

Jade

Lucas

Alem

and Nicaula, Queen of Sheba . . .

You'd better light candles for yourselves--your destiny is about to be determined.
Meanwhile, you can check out my blog on the Queen of Sheba.
