Sneak Peak

My new cover is ready. The fourth and final volume in my Out of Jerusalem series, Land of Inheritance, will be released September 2007. The orginal artwork is by Jorge Cocco.

A couple of endorsements:

"This last book in the Out of Jerusalem series certainly does not disappoint. H.B. Moore brings the Book of Mormon to life through her meticulous research and creative talents. Moore helps us to read "between the lines" of Nephi's account and gives us a stronger connection to early prophets through this compelling book."
—Dayna Davis, LDSfiles.com Staff Reviewer

"In Land of Inheritance, the fourth volume in her imaginative Out of Jerusalem series, Heather B. Moore again recasts events from 1 and 2 Nephi as credible fiction, following Lehi and Sariah's family as they establish themselves in the Promised Land. While remaining true to the Book of Mormon account, Moore persuasively renders as must-read historical fiction the rich (and growing) body of scholarship about ancient life in Mesoamerica. I highly recommend this exciting, well-written, faith-centered and faith-enhancing novel."

Heather,

Your Out of Jerusalem series is wonderful. I frequent Julie Wright's blog, and often saw your comments, but it took me a while to realize you were THE H.B. Moore. You have a great talent. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Thanks,

Thanks, Kevin. Julie is one of the nicest people I've ever known. I was at the LTUE for part of the first day. Maybe we met? Your art is fabulous!

Julie definitely ranks high on my coolest-person-in-the-world list.

Ahh. I missed the first day of LTUE. Will you be there next year? If so, I'll have to bring my Out of Jerusalem books to be signed.

Thanks!

Kevin

Kevin, I don't know yet if I'll be at LTUE next year. But you can always sign up for my newsletter (I keep my booksignings updated through that). www.hbmoore.com

Heather,

Absolutely love the cover! I can't wait to read this book. You truly are a highly skilled writer with the ability to pull your reader into the story. I'm anxiously awaiting the release -- or for Tristi to bring me the ARC.

Best of luck with this new release.

Love the cover, Heather. That deep green and gold look truly regal. Can't wait for the book to reach the stores. This series gets better and better all the time. Great talent.

What do you think about the other Book of Mormon series that never got finished...the one by brother Woolley? The Promised Land or Pillar of Fire or something like that? It has a cover a lot like yours. They never published more than three or four volumes and the story was never concluded, at least I didn't think it was over. Seemed like there was a lot you could write about and it just never finished. Do you know anything about what happened to that series and why they never finished it? Did the author pass away?

I haven't read David Woolley's series. But every time I do a booksigning I'm asked either 1) Where's his next book, or 2) What's the difference between our series?. I tell customers that I've heard it's an excellent series [which is true--I've met many of his die-hard fans] and those who have read Woolley and those who have read mine have enjoyed each for different reasons. I assume the author will continue the series. I'm not privvy to that information. (But he's still alive.) I haven't met him but I'm sure when I do, we'll have a lot in common! When I first started bringing Of Goodly Parents to my critique group, they told me about Woolley. They also told me that my approach was quite a bit different. I hadn't heard of his books at that point. So I asked my sister about it (she reads tons of LDS fiction, and at that point I'd hardly read any). Of course she'd read them and loved them. I asked her what angle the author took and when she told me, I realized mine was different--although both were during the same Book of Mormon era. At that time I decided not to read them yet because I didn't want to get any ideas that weren't my own.
