10 Week Book Giveaway--Week #3

To win a copy of one of my books, answer the question below in the comments. I'll draw one name and announce the winner on Friday.

Full details here.

Today's Question is:

What is your favorite summer memory?

One of my favorite summer memories is going up the canyon with my family. My parents, etc. would fish, and I would find a shady spot to sit and read a book! I loved being in the mountains and having the river nearby . . . and reading of course :)

I guess I'll stick my nose in on this one, Heather, because it gives me a chance to talk about folks who mean a great deal to me. As a youngster I looked forward to each summer for many years because we always spent those months on my grandpa's ranch. I completely thought my grandpa was the neatest man ever and loved being around him. Your question brings back wonderful memories for me. Thank you for that.

My favorite summer memory is driving on vacation with my family. We would listen to great oldies music and laugh and sing along. Sometimes it is hard to get geared up for a long drive somewhere, but just thinking of those fun experiences can bring a smile to my face and get me into the car.

My favorite summer memory is when my family and I went to California after I had been married a year and a half. We went to Disneyland, and the beach, and had so much fun together! I was three months pregnant, and have horrible morning sickness with my pregnancies, but that is the only week out of both of my pregnancies that I didn't throw up! It was so nice!:)

My favorite summer memory is playing in the irrigation ditch in front of our house with my brothers and sisters. It was pretty much a daily occurrence, but oh so fun. We scrounged the wood pile for flat boards we used as surf boards and sometimes used to build dams along the ditch. People down the line trying to water their gardens were never very appreciative of those dams. We always went running when we saw the water master coming down the road. (As if he didn't know who was at fault!)

Charlie--what a great memory. I think every kid needs grandparents with a ranch :)

Becky, I remember those long vacation drives too. Back when seatbelt weren't a big deal and we'd spread out blankets and pillow in the VW van.

Upper West Side Writer, I think that's the best part of summer--being able to spend more time with loved ones.

Chantele--Disneyland must have been meant to be. I went to Israel for 2 weeks when I was 3 months pregant. I was over the worst of the morning sickness, but I remember being on the plane feeling sick and just wanting a cracker or something to settle my stomach.

Kate, the irrigation ditch brings back a lot of memories. We had one in our backyard. Nowadays, we'd probaby be in trouble because of "sanitation" issues :-)

My fav summer memory was when my three bros and I explored my grandpa's farm. He had a bunch of old cars, trucks, tractors, and even an old school bus. We would "drive" to amazing destinations and make believe for hours. Then we'd play on the haystacks and make fabulous junkyard discoveries. Of course trying to sneak inside to grandma's treat drawer without getting caught was fun too. Good times!

Heather, I posted that picture of Nephi's temple today. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Kami, we had a field behind our house growing up and there was this old rickety shed. Kind of spooky to go into :)
