Random

I don't get random very much here since I try to keep this blog about my writer's journey. But yesterday was the end of two things--1. A week long trip to CA with my family (all stuffed in a van--but I'm not complaining because I LOVE my Odyssey), and 2. A 4 1/2 year stint as Ward Primary President.

For those of you who aren't familiar with the LDS faith, a Primary President means that I was in charge of the childrens classes each Sunday (145 children to be exact).

First, the week long trip to California was planned at the last minute because my husband had the time off and the kids haven't been on a vacation for over 2 years. Yes--it's sadly true. So we did it all--Disneyland, Sea World, etc. I even worked in some book signings.

Second, I was called as the Primary President when my youngest was 5 months old. She'll now be in CTR 5 class in 4 weeks. So that gives you an idea. I haven't felt sad yet about the release. Maybe next Sunday. I've gone through 2 bishops, 3 bishopric counselors, 2 secretaries, and 2 first counselors, and 2 second counselors. Can I have the Rock of Gibraltor award? So tonight I'll pass the gauntlet to the new Pri Pres and then maybe tomorrow I'll start a new book. JUST KIDDING. I need to get those Christmas lights up first ;)

I read three great books on my trip (now THAT's a vacation). Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz (I'm still mad about the ending), Dragon Flight by Jessica Day George (cute sequel, yes, "cute" is the word to describe her writing), and A Circus Without Elephants: A Memoir by Maralys Wills (COMPLETELY FASCINATING!).

And thanks to Jennifer Wilks who posted this nice review of ABINADI.

I like the Odd Thomas books, but I agree. The ending ticked me off.

I have Dragon Flight sitting on my table waiting it's turn to be read.
